Dubai is set to become home to the world’s tallest wellbeing resort as part of its Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which aims to improve the city’s liveability and quality of life. The new resort, named Therme Dubai, will be located at Zabeel Park and is scheduled to open in 2028. The announcement was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE.
Standing 100 meters tall, Therme Dubai will be the tallest resort of its kind in the world. The city is investing AED 2 billion into this landmark project, which will not only provide a unique wellness experience but also contribute to the city’s growing reputation as a hub for luxury and leisure. The resort is expected to attract 1.7 million visitors annually, making it a major new addition to Dubai’s world-class tourism offerings.
Spanning an impressive 500,000 square feet, Therme Dubai will be divided into three main areas, each focusing on a different aspect of wellbeing: restoring, relaxing, and playing. This approach reflects the resort’s commitment to providing comprehensive wellness experience for guests of all ages and interests. One of the prominent features of Therme Dubai will be the world’s largest indoor botanical garden, creating a tranquil and lush environment that will offer visitors a chance to connect with nature in a new way.
In addition to the Therme Dubai resort, Dubai continues to focus on improving the quality of life for its residents and visitors as part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033. This comprehensive strategy, launched in May 2024, aims to position Dubai as the world’s best place to live by enhancing the wellbeing of its citizens. The strategy covers a wide range of initiatives, from creating pedestrian-friendly spaces to improving public services, ensuring that everyone in the city has access to essential amenities within 20 minutes of their home.
A key part of this strategy is the development of more green spaces across the city. Dubai Municipality recently announced that it planted 216,500 trees throughout the city in 2024 alone, marking a 17% increase compared to the previous year. This initiative helps improve the city’s air quality, offers more shade, and contributes to the overall aesthetic of Dubai. The increase in tree planting is a step toward making Dubai a more sustainable and livable city for residents and visitors alike.
As part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, the city is also working on expanding its public spaces and recreational areas. Over 200 parks will be developed in the coming years, creating more green space for families, children, and outdoor enthusiasts. In addition, the city plans to extend its cycling tracks on beaches by 300 percent, offering more opportunities for active outdoor recreation. Dubai’s beaches are also being developed to provide a better experience for visitors, including a 60 percent expansion in the length of night swimming beaches, allowing people to enjoy the water even after dark.
In a bid to further promote inclusivity and support for all residents, Dubai will also introduce a new beach designated exclusively for women. This beach will provide a safe and comfortable space for women to enjoy the city’s beautiful coastline in privacy and peace. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to supporting the diverse needs of its population, ensuring that all individuals can access spaces that meet their needs.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, recently took to social media to emphasize the country’s dedication to sustainability and environmental conservation. He highlighted the UAE’s ongoing efforts to tackle climate change and promote a collective sense of responsibility for preserving the planet for future generations. These efforts align with the broader goals of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, which seeks to make Dubai a model of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 is a forward-thinking and comprehensive plan that aims to transform Dubai into a more sustainable, livable, and family-friendly city. Through investments in green spaces, wellness resorts, and accessible public services, Dubai is working toward becoming the best place in the world to live, offering a high standard of living, world-class amenities, and a commitment to environmental conservation.
